Established in 1999 in Epsom, Sake Bar was set up as a traditional Japanese restaurant (Izakaya style) to provide discerning diners with the opportunity to truly experience Japan. The sights and sounds of a busy Japan embrace all who enter.

Using only the freshest of ingredients and talented experienced chefs your taste buds are in for a sensation. Seating is available where you can watch while they skilfully prepare your dishes. Friendly waitresses in kimono and customary dress await your orders.

The original owners are still at the helm and, following the huge success of Epsom, they opened a second branch in Takapuna (2012). More recently, a sushi train was added next door to the Epsom site so you can enjoy a wide variety of visually palatable, mouth-watering sushi treats. Our carefully selected a la carte menu is available at all our restaurants so you can choose your favourite dishes at any site.

Like stepping into Japan let our Japanese Chefs prepare for you fresh sashimi, sushi, tempura, yakitori skewers and many other favourites, to complement these dishes we have Japanese tap beer, local beers, a selection of hot and cold sakes, as well as wines and spirits.
